  The main inspiration for this album was to not be held back by genre. As a string player, so much of what is expected of me is to either play classical music or be a topical string arrangement on more mainstream music. I wanted to delve into the world of instrumental music (electric and acoustic) without feeling like I had to write a string quartet or solo viola work.
  
  I also didn't want to be burdened by the idea of whether or not I could physically perform these works live. I wanted to process, edit, and warp sounds without regard for real time performance - to step out of the sounds that people are used to hearing from the instruments I use. Now, of course, this has made the idea of an album release show a tall mountain to climb, but one that I'm excited to tackle.
  
  Much of this record was recorded by myself at home or on the road. Some of the tracks like Bad Dance Moves and Where We Were Not were even recorded in my parents attic in Baltimore when the pandemic was making its first moves in Spring 2020.
  
  Most other string and synth tracking was done in my Brooklyn home studio in Bed-Stuy, informally Waterbear Studios.
  
  Some of the tracking for Portalegre happened in (can you guess?) Portalegre, Portugal
  
  Finally, all of the mixing and some final tracking happened at Fer Sound with Christopher Botta in Bushwick, Brooklyn. ... more
